9 Phoenix Mountain (2/2)
With one hundred and fifty yuan in her pocket, she struggled to get out of the campus.
The old man looked at the door and clicked his tongue when he saw this. He couldn't bear to call out, ”Little girl, hold on.”
Wan Chao stood at the door, puzzled. What's the matter with this old man?
She still had some impression of this old gatekeeper. There were two times when Liu Li and her gang beat her up, this old gatekeeper yelled twice and scared Liu Li and her gang away. At that time, Wan Chao resented the whole world and even glared at this old man.
Many years later, when Wan Chao thought of this old gatekeeper, she would laugh at him. Now that she saw him again, she waited at the door in a good mood.
Soon, the gatekeeper hurried out of the room. He held a small bottle in his hand, and inside the bottle was half a bottle of light yellow liquid.
”Here, little girl, this is my exclusive medicinal wine. It has some effect on one's fall and injury, so you should carefully rub it yourself. Two days later it will be fine.”
Wan Chao thought about it for a moment, then took it. She took out fifty yuan from her pocket and handed it over.
The gatekeeper looked at the money that Wan Chao handed to him and glared at her. ”Girl, just take the wine for free and keep the money. If you continue with this nonsense, just leave the wine for me.”
Wan Chao stubbornly handed the wine back, so angry that the gatekeeper's beard was about to jump.
”Stupid girl, if you have the ability, then fight back!” What are you trying to play with me for! ”
When Wan Chao finally reacted, she took back all the medicine and money, bowed to the gatekeeper with a wooden face, and turned to leave.
The old guard's voice came from behind. ”You get beaten up everyday, but you don't even remember how to avoid it. If my granddaughter is like this, I'll swing two sticks at them and kill them all.”
This gatekeeper only thought that Wan Chao was being violently attacked by Liu Li and her gang on campus.
Hearing this grandpa's voice, Wan Chao's mouth curved into a smile. She wouldn't be beaten again in the future. She held the bottle tightly in her hand as she walked along the road.
This was a small county in the north. The name was Wutong.
Wutong County was still what she remembered it to be. The road hadn't changed, the buildings hadn't changed, the mountains and rivers hadn't changed. In her previous life, she had left Wutong County when she was eighteen and had never returned. In her three years in high school, Wutong County had not undergone any major changes. On the other hand, after her divorce, she had gone to a small southern city and paid attention to Wutong County. When she found out about the great changes that had occurred in Wutong County, the economy soared and it became one of the top hundred counties in the entire country.
After walking for half an hour, she turned to the left and turned into a small road. After walking for another twenty minutes, the end of the road was Mount Phoenix in Wutong County.
According to her memory, Wan Chao climbed up Phoenix Mountain from a small path. Phoenix Mountain wasn't very high, so after half an hour, she climbed up to the top of the mountain. She found a large rock facing the sun and sat down against it.
This was also a place she often came to. Every time she was bullied, quarreled with her mother, or had something bad happen after exams, she would climb up to Phoenix Mountain and sit there by herself in a daze.
There's a temple on top of Phoenix Mountain, and outside of it was bare. Normally, very few people would go up the mountain, and it's very peaceful here.
