Chamberlain quickly set up his phone before dialing Carl's number. On the first ring, Carl picked up.
”Hey…” Right what did he want to say to Stallone again?
”Chamberlain,” Carl called out for the first time after not hearing him speak for a few seconds.
Chamberlain had no time to appreciate this, ”I'm sorry I messed things up at my father's end. Before I could get answers, he was suspicious of me. And it seems your problems only increased because of me.”
”Thankfully, you know it's your fault… Is there any other thing?”
Carl was currently doing his research on those lawyers so he did not have the time to chat. He wanted to know their statistics and what not.
”Stallone,” Chamberlain called out to him.
Carl paused his movements.
”You should increase the security around your wife. As for you…”
Chamberlain tried recalling his father's MO in order to caution Carl.
He wondered if his father would have a change of mind. It would be easier to kidnap Kim and threaten Carl to plead guilty.
Undoubtedly, Charles Stan was so used to doing this that he feared his rivals would do the same to him too. That was why he always made sure to send his wife and daughter away first.
He was ambitious and would definitely not let this little obstacle bring them down. It wasn't the first time someone sent evidence of his crimes to the police nor was it the first time someone else went to jail for their crimes.
Charles Stan would usually use a scandal to divert the attention of the public. So far, it has worked perfectly that the public truly respected him. His reputation was truly impeccable.
He was a family man without scandals. He was down to earth. The public's opinion of Charles Stan could hardly be tainted.
He had avid supporters who felt he could do no wrong.
Chamberlain feared that his father would go a step more because of him. He did not know what to anticipate.
Carl had already made plans to ensure her safety that was why he told her she should remain in school if ever he was arrested.
She should remain in groups and call Allan if she ever wanted to leave the school. He had anticipated that much.
Sincerely speaking, the way Chamberlain sounded scared him a little. He could only do his best and pray he overestimated Charles Stan.
”I'll help you gather evidence. Don't go to the office just in case,” Chamberlain advised.
The most tiring aspect of this was that they were preparing for something they had no idea when it would happen.
”I trust you.”
Those words were enough to calm the storm in Chamberlain's heart.
He ended the call and he left for the company almost immediately.
Lena watched him drive away from the balcony before going back inside.
