Chapter 27 (1/2)
Upon sending Lucia away to a safe place, Qin Hao helped her with a simple bandage. Lucia would be able to handle the rest. She was, after all, a medic and had enough equipment at hand.
After that, Qin Hao returned to the vicinity of the transport ship and began to search for traces of any survivors.
With the life detector, Qin Hao’s search was much easier. He first turned on the life detection mode so that he could search for wounded survivors first.
And soon, there was a small red dot appearing on the detector, and that meant there were signs of life activity there.
Qin Hao came to the location of the red dot after a few steps. After he pulled away a chunk of the transport ship’s debris, he found an injured survivor.
It was a middle-aged man, and he was not wearing a military uniform, but rather a large coat. As it was nothing but blood and dirt stains on it, Qin Hao could not tell what color it was, so Qin Hao could not identify the man.
After a brief examination, the person was seriously injured. He had several broken ribs, and bruises everywhere on his body, but thankfully, there were no fatal injuries.
People with broken ribs cannot be carried on one’s back as that would aggravate their injuries, and could even cause the broken ribs to puncture the internal organs, resulting in the death of the wounded. So Qin Hao could only make a simple stretcher from the wreckage of the transport ship and then dragged the person back to Lucia’s side.
“Multiple fractures, some internal injuries. Patch him up.” After Qin Hao briefed her, he rushed back to the wreckage. He still had other people to search.
“Yeah!” Lucia nodded. This was not the first time she had rescued the wounded on the battlefield, so it was relatively easy for her.
After returning to the vicinity of the wreckage, Qin Hao started searching again. Very quickly, he found an unlucky chap some distance away from the wreckage. Although the person still had signs of life, he was done for. From his garb, he had probably been the transport ship’s pilot and had been thrown out when the transport ship crashed. He had been unlucky during the crash landing, and a sharp branch had pierced through his chest. While he had some weak signs of life at that moment, in this place that lacked proper medical equipment, it was as good as a death sentence for him.
Krak… Qin Hao chopped the branch off and laid him flat on the ground.
“Ugh… ugh…” The person seemed to want to say something, but before he could utter a word, his neck crooked sideways and stopped breathing.
“Rest in peace, comrade!” Qin Hao stretched his hand out to help the man close his eyes.
After two more rounds around the wreckage, Qin Hao did not find any signs of survivors. After that, he turned on the battlefield recorder positioning mode, and soon, several red dots appeared on the detector, and including Qin Hao, there were nine red dots.
“Sigh! Seems like there’s no one else alive…” Qin Hao sighed. According to Lucia, there were a total of eight people on the transport ship. Now all of their battlefield recorders had been located, but aside from Lucia and that man, no one else showed signs of life.
Qin Hao then dragged the bodies of the dead out and called on Blackie who was laying low on a side to use its giant mandible to dig a hole, and then buried all of the dead.
While Blackie was puzzled by Qin Hao’s behavior because it felt that all this meat was edible. It did not understand why Qin Hao had to bury them, but Blackie obeyed Qin Hao’s orders in the end and did not feast on the bodies.
After everything was done did Qin Hao returned to Lucia’s side with Blackie.
“Aaaahhh!” Lucia screamed as she pointed to Qin Hao’s side, obviously scared by Blackie.
