Chapter 110 - I Knew It! (1/2)

”Are you mad?” LeiLei asked anxiously as she made her eyes look bigger so as to make the man take some pity on her, however, this was something that hardly worked on Hecathe.

”LeiLei, I think it would be better if you stay away from the kitchen starting tomorrow. And when I say 'stay away' I mean at least ten meters away.”

LeiLei, ”...”

The landlady chuckled as she heard this and jokingly commented, ”Even if you hadn't said it, I was already planning on banning her from the kitchen.”

LeiLei pouted and turned to look at the landlady as if she had been wronged by the woman, however, the landlady didn't seem to care as she simply shrugged her shoulders.

Hecathe shook his head in disbelief and in the process, his eyes glanced down and managed to catch a glimpse of the Landlady's eight legs.

The man looked up at LeiLei and he couldn't help but be a little surprised and suspicious of the fact that LeiLei had seen the woman's legs but refused to comment or ask anything about them.

If it had been someone else, then they would have surely been horrified, however, for some reason, LeiLei didn't treat the woman any differently, making it almost seem as if she didn't care whether the woman had eight legs or two.

The more Hecathe got to learn about LeiLei, the more he felt as if this girl was mysterious and suspicious. She should have been just a poor girl from the gambling bar who would be naive and easy to manipulate, but somehow, after getting to know her better, Hecathe could clearly see that she was a bit too different from what he originally thought she would be like.

In most cases, Hecathe would have been suspicious of such a person and would have chosen to avoid getting involved with someone like her completely, however, for some odd reason, Hecathe had the gut feeling that this girl was going to bring him good luck and Hecathe hardly had such feelings for people so he trusted his gut this time.

Hecathe sighed as he decided not to overthink it. Nothing good was going to come out of overthinking so the man decided to change the topic.

”This reminds me, She wanted to rent another room,” Hecathe spoke as he informed the landlady, ”She'll be willing to pay the full rent.”

The landlady looked to be a bit surprised as she heard this and blinked in confusion as she took a minute to respond, ”Why? Isn't it fine if she's living with you?”

Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin unimpressed line as he heard this and responded with a question, ”Why would it be okay for her to live in the same room as me?”

”...” The landlady looked over at LeiLei with worry as she heard the man and LeiLei simply shrugged her shoulders with a small pout on her lips.

”I think you're mistaken but she's not my girlfriend,” Hecathe informed with a sigh as he tried to clear the misunderstanding that had been unknowingly caused.

LeiLei frowned as she heard this but since it was the truth, there was nothing she could say.

The Landlady looked to be shocked at first and then, surprisingly enough, there was a bright smile on her face, showing that she was not only shocked but also delighted to get this news.

”I knew it!” The Landlady exclaimed happily, ”There is no way you'd be swayed away from your other half!”

”Eh?” Hecathe titled his head in confusion and repeated the woman's comment in his head, however, even after repeating it once, he was still unable to understand the meaning behind her words.

What other half was she talking about...?

Hecathe, who had already forgotten about the misunderstanding he had caused way earlier, would naturally not know that the other half the woman was referring to was actually Alphius who was supposed to be his lover according to this woman.

”Sir, are you dating someone?” LeiLei asked with surprise and Hecathe immediately shook his head but it seemed that the landlady thought otherwise as she giggled and said nothing more.

Hecathe looked at the landlady curiously and he saw that in the very next minute, the woman looked to be confused as she frowned and questioned, ”If she's not your girlfriend, who is she...?”

Hecathe had not thought of a lie that far and there was no way he would be willing to talk about his plan to catch the whale so when the woman asked this question, he was left dumbfounded as he tried to come up with a lie on the spot.

LeiLei seemed to have seen the reluctance in Hecathe's demeanor and smirked as she decided to answer on his behalf, ”I'm actually a relative of his.”

Hecathe gulped as he immediately nodded his head and decided to go along with LeiLei's lie.

”She's my sister. A distant relative that came to check whether I was doing okay or not,” The man added as if trying to make the lie sound more believable.

The landlady frowned as she heard this and looked at the two as she commented, ”You're relatives...?”

Both LeiLei and Hecathe nodded in unison as they heard this question.
