Chapter 197 - So I Was A Pawn...? (1/2)
”Tell her that I saw through her from the very beginning itself,” The Dorgon spoke firmly as he kept his eyes on the girl, ”Tell her that she has already lost this fight.”
Hecathe gulped as he heard this and although he was a bit confused, he still spoke up and repeated the Dorgon's words.
LeiLei scoffed as she heard him and snapped, ”I have already won so it would be better just to accept your fate.”
Hecathe felt a little lost as he heard this but the Dorgon seemed to have understood the meaning behind her words and he was clearly not happy with it.
With a sharp breath in, the Dorgon opened his mouth and immediately attacked the girl with his Ice, but LeiLei smirked as she disappeared before the ice could even touch her reflection.
Hecathe gulped as he blinked in disbelief and muttered, ”I guess that makes things clear.”
The Dorgon let out a cold breath and it seemed as if this was his way of agreeing with the man.
”What now?” Hecathe asked with a sigh, ”It doesn't seem like she's up to any good.”
”Hecathe, do you remember what she just said?” The Dorgon spread his wings and once again took flight, launching into the sky as he asked.
”I didn't understand anything she just said,” Hecathe answered honestly.
”She said she had already won,” The Dorgon spoke and informed, ”It was chaos she was after and it was chaos that she got, but there is still a question that remains unanswered.”
”Only one?” Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin line as he sarcastically asked.
”Why did she want this?” The Dorgon ignored Hecathe's sarcasm and questioned as he continued, ”If you can find the answer to that, I'm sure you won't be as useless as you are right now.”
”...” Hecathe suddenly felt as if he had been dissed.
”Retrace your steps and think carefully about it. Where exactly did you go wrong and when did you start being a pawn for someone else?”
Hecathe gulped as he heard this and although he wanted to discuss more on the subject of him being dissed, he decided to put that aside as he carefully thought about the question that the Dorgon had presented him with.
Hecathe looked down at Zeblor and he couldn't help but feel his heart drop as he saw people fighting to survive. Blood painted the walls and street. The only ones safe were the people that had been frozen by the Dorgon but even they were not going to be completely fine after this. Their homes had already been destroyed and once this war was over, this land was going to be turned into nothing more than a wasteland.
He had certainly wanted to dissolve the current government but was that really his own idea or was it somebody else's wish that he had mistakenly considered being his own...?
He had expected to see this war but was this really what he wanted to see?
Just as the Dorgon had advised him, Hecathe retraced his steps to the very beginning.
He had given the excuse that he was doing all this for Alphius.
Alphius had asked a favor out of him and he blamed all this on that burdening unknown favor.
However, Hecathe's eyes widened when he remembered his choice to run away from the underground city.
He couldn't blame that on Alphius. He was more than sure that it was for his own safety that he decided to run away. It had simply nothing to do with Alphius. In fact, when Hecathe eventually reached Ocasia, all he wanted to do was to undertake a new identity under his own name.
He remembered convincing himself that he could get rich and powerful even without needing to reveal his new identity as Alphius. Hecathe gulped as he realized that this was also for his own selfish reasons. He wanted to make sure that he survived in this world and that was the reason why he came to Ocasia with the hopes of getting powerful.
”Eggy...” Hecathe muttered in disbelief as he started questioning his own self, ”I think I was being played.”
The Dorgon seemed to have already understood everything and hence he wasn't the least bit shocked to hear this.
”Your ring,” The Dorgon spoke with a sigh as he soar through the sky, ”I told you, didn't I? It's the reason why she couldn't read your thoughts anymore. It's the barrier that protected you, but its powers are still limited. It can prevent but it cannot cure.”
