15 Ambushed (1/2)

Sam looked surprised but not that much as the system had already warned him that the shop would be opening sometime during this week. In front of Sam appeared a page floating in the air, it was light blue with a very futuristic style. It looked like those HUD in science fiction movies, in the middle was a round bead spinning. After a few minutes the bead stopped spinning and lots of items appeared one under the other, there were books, flasks, and even everyday tools and weapons. It seemed like he could even get physical items from the system.

Each item had its price written on the side, the prices were in Energy Value (EV).

He browsed through the expensive part of the shop and was shocked by what he saw

And there were tons of these fantastic books, soon he went back to the cheap part of the shop, when he saw his available EV he smiled wryly on the top right part of the screen was written :

[Available EV : 879.]

He wanted to ask the system if there were other ways to gain EVs faster but he was in a hurry at the moment so he justlooked through the shop. Soon he found an item that could help him.

[X-ray vision eyedrop (1 hour duration) : 59 EV.]

He remembered his middle school days, at that time he and some friends came to this abandoned house at night thinking it was a haunted house. Something he remembered well was that this house was in a miserable state, broken walls, furniture, broken roof parts ; everything was lying on the ground and there were a lot of hiding places in there where these two could hide and ambush him.

This is why he very soon decided on the X-ray vision drop and used it very fast. In total he had spent less than 30 seconds to buy it and he was now in front of the house, he could see through 1 layer of walls at most so he couldn't see the rooms in the back but it was enough to avoid an ambush so he went inside while checking every corner, he arrived in a long corridor, at least 10 meters long and he saw something that he didn't expect. The corridor had at least 5 rooms on each side, in each room was waiting at least 1 person. There were rooms with 2 people waiting, they all had either a bat or a metal pipe. These guys really wanted him dead, if he didn't break at least a few legs he wouldn't feel good.

He couldn't do anything against them like this, he thought of throwing a canister of teargas he found on the shop to make them go out on their own but Em' might be somewhere inside and he didn't want to make her go through the pain.

He had two options, either fight his way in or sneak and find Em. At this moment his phone rang and alerted all the hidden guys, it was a call from Leo. He picked the call, they already knew that he was here, he couldn't use the sneak in strategy and had to fight them all. With very fast movement he opened the store and bought a level 2 boxing book for 150 EV, at the moment it was the best thing he could buy. He expected the level 2 boxing book to bring him at the level of a regional champion at least, this way he could defeat them in very fast movements.

He didn't answer the call but took a few steps forward, when he was in front of the first door all the doors were flung open and a dozen of guys rushed toward him, Sam didn't wait for the furthest to arrive and rushed toward the nearest, the were two ; both were holding metal pipes, the first guy waved the pipe toward Sam's head but the second one couldn't attack as the corridor was too small, if he waved his weapon he'd hit his friend first.

Sam saw this and realized that even if they were a lot they couldn't fight him all at the same time in this confined space so in the end it was like doing lots of 1 versus 1 in a row.

'These guys are really stupid to not think about this in advance...'

He dodged the guys pipe and threw a foot toward his chest, the guy flew and landed on his friend behind him. With his 18 strength points it wasn't hard for him to send a guy flying with a kick, he walked toward them and grabbed the guy that had been thrown.

Then he took the metal pipe and broke it in half using his knee, now both sides of the pipe were sharp enough to kill someone. He threw the second part behind him to avoid one of the remaining guys to use it against him and put the second part at the guy's throat.

« Now you guys will tell me where are Leo and Tony or else this guy will die. »

The guys looked at him mockingly until one of them took a step forward and said

« Can you really kill him ? If you do you'll go to prison and your little sister will be left alone. »

This guy was probably close to Tony and Leo as he knew that Sam's only family was Em...

« You're right, I cant kill him. »

Sam kept the pipe but went in front of the hostage and used his foot to break his leg in two at the knee.
