39 Late for dinner (2/2)

”Ah sure, I'll call you aunt Li then.”

Jin didn't seem to mind his mom forcing the fault on him and was laughing, he grabbed Sam by the shoulder once again and made him sit on the table next to Em, he sat on the other side. The only person missing was Annie, looking at Sam that was looking around the table curiously aunt Li called

”Annie are you done soon ? We can start eating when Annie bring the main dish.”

This surprised Sam, the table was already packed with all kind of food ! What was the main dish if all those were only side dishes ?

Everything looked delicious though, Sam was already feeling hungry after eating hours ago on the road and wanted to dive in, he had already seen a few things that seemed to be delicious and knew what he would try first.

Finally Annie came into the living room wearing an apron on top of her clothes and holding a hot pot, Sam couldn't take his eyes off of her, she looked even more beautiful than usually as she now had the vibe of a caring big sister more than a teenage girl.

While he was staring at her both her parents saw him, in fact nobody around the table missed it, it was just that the kids saw him looking at her but thought that he was like them : looking at he food because he was too hungry.

Jin was had a crafty smile on his face like he was preparing something while looking at Sam

”Ann is it heavy ? Yo Sam you're the nearest to here you should take it from her.”

Of course it couldn't be that heavy so that was his plan to embarrass both of them but Sam didn't realize and really stood up to take it from her

”I'll take it, you should take off the apron and also take a sit.”

”Thanks.”

He didn't realize it but he was blushing a bit, it had been so long he didn't speak with her face to face that he wasn't sure how to act.

He put the pot in the middle of the table while everybody finally took their sit. Both of them were embarrassed while only Jin felt like this was funny, he kept holding back his laugh until aunt Li have him an elbow hit, of course she understood what he was doing.

”Let's dig in, bon appétit (author note : enjoy your meal) everybody.”

While they were eating Em and Rika didn't stop speaking and laughing, on the adults side it was more calm until Jin asked

”Sam how was your trip ?”

He didn't like silence so he was the first one to ask it even though everybody was curious.

”It was great, I made a friend there while I was singing in the street. She's a clothes designer.”

”Oh really ? How did you become friends ?”

It was dad Li that asked, he also seemed to be curious about Sam's trip.

”She saw me while I was playing in the streets

and asked me to be her model for a contest in her school, the clothes I wore during the semi finals and the finals both were done by her.”

”Ohhhh I have seen the clothes ! They looked so cool ! You looked awesome...”

Annie exclaimed, her voice became softer when she said the last part of the sentence and she blushed, she didn't want to say it out loud but it came out on his own.

« I saw them too, you looked very handsome in them Sam ! »

She was saved by her mom's intervention, and looked at Sam discretely, he wasn't looking at her but kept speaking with her dad and she felt relieved.

In fact he had heard her but didn't know how to react so he pretended not to, if they were alone he wouldn't have the same reaction but both her parents were present he couldn't flirt openly with their daughter...
